Erykah Badu Teams Up With Pyer Moss
Erykah Badu is a singer and songwriter within the genre of what we call Neosoul. She’s known for her cuts Bag Lady, Tyrone and On and On to name a few. She is also known for her cool, eclectic and sometimes outrageous styles.
It seems not only her fans love her style, but so does Kerby Jean-Raymond, the head designer and founder of Pyer Moss, pronounced Pierre Moss. Moss and Erykah Badu connected for his Fall/Winter 2016 collection to be shown during this 2016 New York Fashion Week.
Badu shared with complex. “I’m excited about what we’ll do together. It’s great to see another artist work from inception to creativity and be invited to be a part of it.”

Kerby Jean-Raymond is a designer who uses fashion to make social statements about injustices. Last season Jean-Raymond he brought the Black Lives Matter movement to New York Fashion Week, showing a short film that featured footage of black people killed by police. The collection included blood-splattered footwear and clothes with Eric Garner’s last words—”I can’t breathe”—written on them.
The Fall/Winter 2016 collection will explore a new idea. “We’re focusing more on the human condition and topics like depression,” says Kerby. “It’s a really human take on something most people find to be taboo.”
