Issa Rae is rooting for everybody black and she has proven this time and time again. This powerhouse has used her success to support other blacks in their endeavors. As told to People Exclusive Issa Rae discussed supporting Black businesses.

“I want to remind people that Black businesses aren’t just for Black people. Tell everybody! And also, I challenge the Black business owner to be vocal and specific about the support that they need, because no one knows your business like you do. And to see so many PPP loans get denied to Black businesses like I want to know which ones didn’t get the love and why. And I want to see what we can do, as a community, to support those businesses. Because these are community staples, and we need to recognize how important they are to uphold.”

“I just never felt more powerful than just building something from the ground up.” – Issa Rae

Her platforms have allowed other filmmakers to show the world their talented work. Two of those platforms are “Issa Rae Presents” and “Short Film Sunday”. These projects showcase filmmakers by featuring their work. This gives them the ability to reach thousands of viewers.

In addition to supporting black filmmakers, this savvy businesswoman is also the co-owner of two black businesses. Hilltop Coffee and Kitchen, and Sienna Natural, a vegan product hair line.
