Smith attributes his success saying, “I ran my own race. I knew what I wanted and my persistence paid off.”
Vista Equity Partners was founded in 2000 and is a private equity firm that focuses on investments in software and technology enabled businesses.
Smith always had an interest in math and science. While in college he always held a fascination with computers. As a self-proclaimed computer geek he held straight A’s in math and computer science.
After constantly nagging the HR department of Bell Labs Robert Smith landed an internship after an MIT student failed to show up. His persistence eventually landed him an internship that would change his life.
