Uber is known for its speedy transportation service, but it looks as if they are taking it to the next level. Uber has created a new app called UberEATS in both the apple and Google app stores. People can now use this app to order food. There are different features on the app such as breaking down your menu choices by what type you choose and even an instant delivery feature. UberEATS claims this allows food to be delivered in less than ten minutes. Hmmm…. now that’s interesting.

Uber has personal transportation on lock down. Uber has over an estimated 30 million riders per month, according to The Motley Fool.  The company has food delivery locations in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco. They’re even located in Toronto and Paris.

UberEATS basically runs during lunch from 11 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday for now. If you’re looking for special deliveries to your front door or to your office you’re out of luck. Users can even follow their deliveries in real-time as it happens.

So one wonders if Uber can be just as successful with food delivery as they are with ride-sharing. As with most start-ups there are ups and downs. Uber has already decided to shut down its Uber delivery service located in New York City.

UberEATSAccording, to Quartz, Uber alerted its users that they would be ending their food service. “Starting today, 4/18, we’ll no longer be offering a daily Instant Delivery lunch menu.”

In the NYC Uber worked with restaurants that prepared two pre-fixed dishes, like a sandwich or salad from a restaurant. Uber promised to deliver in under 10 minutes. The sandwiches were made in bulk allowing an Uber driver to carry the food in their car. Interesting concept wouldn’t you agree?

But no need to worry. They are still up and running in other areas. Uber is confident that they will continue this service in other parts of the country. So look out for an UberEATS food delivery driver near you.
