Annie Malone Children and Family Services first opened its doors in 1888 as the St. Louis Colored Orphan’s Home. Helping St. Louis families for over a century, the agency has grown into a multi-service center in the community, addressing the social and educational needs of children and families in crisis and at risk throughout St. Louis.
The St. Louis Colored Orphan’s Home was renamed Annie Malone Children and Family Services. Its namesake Annie Malone served as President of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Colored Orphans’ Home from 1919 to 1943. In tribute to her loyalty and dedication to the Home’s goals, it was renamed in her honor on June 25th, 1889.
We’re driven to improve the quality of life for children, families, older adults, and the community by providing social services, educational programs, and advocacy.
The organization holds a strong belief that children and families should have the opportunity to live in an environment that enables them to develop healthy self-concepts to achieve their potential and to become productive citizens.
